Karumbaiah, Phillips, Pursner Lead ABSC in Pentathlon Meet Success

Our friends at Lanier Aquatics once again hosted their annual March Pentathlon meet, and ABSC Swimmers did not disappoint!
Swimmers who competed in all 5 events – a 50 of each stroke and a 100 IM – were entered into the Pentathlon Challenge scoring system set up based on the sum of the times of each swimmer’s 5 events. A bonus penalty time was added for DQ events, and if a swimmer didn’t compete in one of the five events, they were removed from the scoring.
ABSC was lead by three swimmers who placed first overall in their age groups, but as you can see below, we had a great showing across the board!
Vidur Karumbaiah cruised to a comfortable win in the 8&Under boys division, pacing the group by roughly 29 seconds! Luke Phillips took care of the boys 10&Under age group, with 5-second margin between himself and the second place competitor.
Rebecca Pursner from the 13-14 girls age group rounded out the first place finishes for ABSC on the day. She actually ended up in an exciting battle with fellow ABSC teammate Addie Hayes, barely holding off Hayes by a grand total of 6-10ths of a second! Pursner and Hayes finished roughly 7 seconds ahead of the 3rd place finisher!
