Three ABSC senior girls have recently committed to swimming with collegiate programs. Anna Rose Moore (North Oconee High School), Eliza Petersen (North Oconee High School), and Annie Williamson (Oconee County High School) will continue their swimming career well past the days of ABSC.
Anna Rose Moore has committed to swimming with the Georgia Southern Eagles starting with the 2015-2016 season. She is following in the steps of many great ABSC-ers, including Coach Pirie who recently graduated from Georgia Southern. Although she is not the first to swim at Georgia Southern, she will certainly be creating a path of her own. “Anna Rose will add a lot of depth to the freestyle group at Georgia Southern,” said Coach Jos. “She has a lot of range in her freestyle events and can compete in the butterfly events, as well.”

Anna Rose felt that Georgia Southern was the best fit for her. “The team was so welcoming that I immediately felt at home right off the bat.” Coach Jos believes that “Georgia Southern and Coach Nate will do a fantastic job with her!” We couldn’t agree more, Coach Jos!
The coaches really care about their swimmers’ success both in and out of the pool. I am beyond happy to be a GSU Eagle next year!”
As she wraps up her final year with ABSC, Anna Rose reflects on the impact ABSC has had on her development as a swimmer and person. “I think that I will be really prepared for college swimming because of how we train at ABSC. Lots of our practices are intense and high in yardage, so I know that I can handle whatever comes my way in college. ABSC and high school swimming have both taught me how to be a teammate and a team player,” said Anna Rose. Luckily, Anna Rose has one final year to embrace the ABSC lifestyle and finish strong.
Eliza Petersen has committed to swimming with the Carson-Newman Eagles starting with the 2015-2016 season. After finishing 10th in the mile at Northeast Divisionals this past year, Eliza has proved she has a lot to offer Carson-Newman as an incoming freshman. “Eliza is a very versatile freestyler. She has a great work ethic and will be a huge contributor to Carson-Newman’s program,” commented Coach Jos.

“I committed to Carson-Newman because it has two potential majors I am considering (Nutrition and Physical Therapy) as well as an exciting, new swimming program, ” Eliza said about why she chose Carson-Newman. “My freshman year will be the third year of the swimming program. The head coach, Paige McCord, is enthusiastic and committed to growing this program. I was equally impressed by the athletic director who expressed his commitment to grow the program. The team is a tight knit group comprised of both women and men who are highly committed to academic excellence.”
I feel Carson Newman is a place where I can excel athletically, academically and spiritually.
Eliza explained that she is better prepared for swimming at Carson-Newman because of her time spent with ABSC. “ABSC has prepared to swim at the college level by instilling a strong work ethic. I have had a wide variety of coaches who have taught me valuable swimming techniques and leadership skills.”
Annie Williamson has committed to swimming with the University of Georgia Bulldogs. Annie will join the defending National Championship UGA Women’s Swimming Team (and current #1 ranked NCAA women’s swimming team according to SwimSwam.com) at the beginning of the 2015-2016 season. A 2nd place finish in the 50-yard Freestyle and 5th place finish in the 100-yard Freestyle at Senior State this past year sets Annie up to be an exciting sprint addition to the Georgia women’s team. Coach Jos added that “Annie will be a great addition to the team and can be an immediate contributor to Georgia relays.”

“I chose UGA for many different reasons. Georgia has always been my ‘dream school’. The coaching staff is unbeatable. They succeed not only in the pool but in the classroom as well. The facilities are amazing, and the team is so welcoming,” said Annie. She left her recruiting trip knowing the team would be a perfect fit for her. “I am definitely considered a homebody. Being able to say I’m 10 miles away from my family is so perfect and convenient.”
Of course, Annie credits ABSC for where she is as she heads into her collegiate swimming career. “Throughout the years at ABSC I’ve grown physically, mentally, and emotionally. ABSC has shown me how much determination and focus this sport takes. With Harvey writing longer distance practices, I’m more confident and prepared for any workout given to me at the college level.”
Georgia is all around just an incredible school and the best decision I could have made.
Annie also gives credit to Coach Jos, who has been an asset to her senior year with ABSC. “With the help from Jos, I’ve reevaluated my goals and discussed what I want to achieve through my swimming career. With that being said, I couldn’t be more honored and excited to swim for the University of Georgia. Go Dawgs!”
We are excited to see what the future holds both for Anna Rose, Eliza, and Annie. Congratulations, Ladies!
